West China Lecheng Hospital

The West China Lecheng Hospital of Sichuan University is a flagship integrated clinical, teaching and research project for the Hainan Free Trade Port. It is jointly developed by Sichuan University, Hainan Development Holdings Co., Ltd., and the Administration of the Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone, and constructed by China Construction First Bureau Group Corporation Limited. Construction began in September 2020. The project has a total gross floor area of approximately 66,300 square meters and includes a comprehensive medical building, specialist residential accommodation, a liquid oxygen station, and a sewage treatment station. The hospital officially opened in March 2025.
The hospital is fully operated under the trusteeship of the West China Medical Center of Sichuan University, which coordinates and deploys premium resources from West China Hospital, West China Second University Hospital, West China Hospital of Stomatology, and West China Fourth Hospital. Phase 1 covers a site area of 63 mu and has 200 inpatient beds. Unlike a conventional “brand-name affiliation” partnership, this full trusteeship model means that departmental planning, staff deployment, quality assessment, and information systems are all uniformly managed under the West China hospital system. Clinical protocols are identical to those at the main Chengdu site.
