Screening and wellness at Lecheng
A structured baseline in two days, and recovery programmes for the weeks after treatment.
Screening is easy to sell and hard to do well. Anyone can run a scanner; the difference is whether a physician reads the result, tells you what does not matter, and gives you a follow-up plan that is proportionate rather than profitable.
We position screening as a two-day, English-reported programme with a named physician read — and we say plainly that it is not a diagnosis, and that it will occasionally send you down a path you did not plan for.
| Typical stay | 2–3 days for screening; 14–28 days for a residential recovery programme |
| Hospitals | 4 |
| Listed therapies | 0 |
| Routing time | 3–7 working days |
This is probably for you if
- Asymptomatic adults over 40 wanting a documented baseline
- A family history that warrants imaging earlier than a national programme offers
- You are already travelling to the zone for another reason and want to use the days
- Post-treatment recovery, where a supervised 2–4 week programme is useful
This is probably not for you if
- You have symptoms — that is a diagnostic workup, not screening
- You are hoping to rule out all disease; no programme can
- You want a scan without a physician consultation attached
The honest comparison
| At home | Regional hub | Here | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Access to newer therapies | Not registered, or not reimbursed | Registered, often self-pay | Reachable before national registration |
| Time to a specialist opinion | Weeks to months | Days to weeks | Typically 3–7 working days |
| Language on site | Your own language | English widely available | English at the desk, interpreter on the ward |
| Cost for the same procedure | Baseline | Mid to high | Materially lower for self-pay patients |
Comparative rows describe typical patterns, not a quote. Prices and waiting times vary by procedure, insurer and season.
A typical sequence
| Day 1 | Arrival, registration, baseline bloodwork |
| Day 2–3 | Imaging and specialist consultation; additional tests if the picture is unclear |
| Day 4 | Written plan and quotation from the hospital |
| Day 5 onward | Treatment, or a decision not to proceed |
| Final day | Discharge summary, imaging, medication, records in English |
Stays of 7–21 days are normal in this pathway. If your assessment is inconclusive, the sequence stops at day 4 — that is a real possibility and you should budget for it.
Five questions
- Which physician reads my results, and do I speak to them or only receive a report?
- What is the policy when something ambiguous is found — who pays for the follow-up?
- Which parts of this programme have evidence behind them, and which are optional extras?
- Can the images be exported for my own doctor?
- What is deliberately not included?
Ask these of the hospital, not only of us. A hospital that cannot answer the first one clearly is a hospital to walk away from.
Hospitals delivering this pathway
Boao Super Hospital
The zone's shared platform. Most international patients start here because the special-access catalogue and the multidisciplinary teams are concentrated in one building.
Hainan Meiser Hospital
Oriented towards international and executive patients, with a quieter pace than the large platform hospitals and same-week screening slots.
Boao Yiling Life Care Centre
Built for longer stays: rehabilitation, TCM and lifestyle programmes with residential accommodation on site. Useful as the recovery leg of a surgical trip.
Yingyi International Medical Centre
A smaller international setting for consultations and follow-up, often used for the days before or after a procedure at a larger hospital.
