Fertility and women's health at Lecheng
IVF, genetic testing of embryos, and gynaecological surgery in a dedicated reproductive hospital.
Fertility is the pathway where expectations run furthest ahead of evidence, and where regulation differs most between countries. We are direct about both: what the law in Hainan permits, and what medicine can and cannot promise.
The zone has a tertiary-level reproductive hospital with in-house genetics, which matters if you need PGT-M rather than standard screening. A cycle requires a stay of roughly three to four weeks, or two shorter visits if you are doing monitoring at home.
| Typical stay | 21–30 days for a full cycle; 5–7 days for a frozen transfer |
| Hospitals | 1 |
| Listed therapies | 0 |
| Routing time | 3–7 working days |
This is probably for you if
- Married couples — this is a legal requirement for assisted reproduction in China
- A known monogenic condition in the family, where embryo screening is indicated
- Repeated implantation failure or recurrent loss with a clear diagnostic question
- You can arrange 21–30 days in Hainan, or split the cycle across two trips
This is probably not for you if
- Single individuals or same-sex couples — Chinese law does not permit treatment here, and we will not pretend otherwise
- You are seeking a guaranteed pregnancy or a specific number of embryos
- You are looking for surrogacy, which is not lawful in China
The honest comparison
| At home | Regional hub | Here | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Access to newer therapies | Not registered, or not reimbursed | Registered, often self-pay | Reachable before national registration |
| Time to a specialist opinion | Weeks to months | Days to weeks | Typically 3–7 working days |
| Language on site | Your own language | English widely available | English at the desk, interpreter on the ward |
| Cost for the same procedure | Baseline | Mid to high | Materially lower for self-pay patients |
Comparative rows describe typical patterns, not a quote. Prices and waiting times vary by procedure, insurer and season.
A typical sequence
| Day 1 | Arrival, registration, baseline bloodwork |
| Day 2–3 | Imaging and specialist consultation; additional tests if the picture is unclear |
| Day 4 | Written plan and quotation from the hospital |
| Day 5 onward | Treatment, or a decision not to proceed |
| Final day | Discharge summary, imaging, medication, records in English |
Stays of 7–21 days are normal in this pathway. If your assessment is inconclusive, the sequence stops at day 4 — that is a real possibility and you should budget for it.
Five questions
- What documentation do we need to bring, and in what form?
- How many embryos are typically available at my age, based on my own numbers rather than clinic averages?
- What happens to surplus embryos, and for how long can they be stored?
- If the first cycle fails, what changes in the second, and what does it cost?
- Can my monitoring be done at home between visits?
Ask these of the hospital, not only of us. A hospital that cannot answer the first one clearly is a hospital to walk away from.
If your case fits, the first step takes ten minutes.
